I was born and raised in Hialeah, Fl, a predominantly Cuban-influenced community. I'm part Dominican and part Costa Rican. I earned my high school diploma from American Senior High School in 2009 and continued my endeavors to pursue a college degree at Florida State University (FSU). I entered FSU through the Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement (C.A.R.E.) program, which is a department at FSU that is designed to aid first-generation students through their path at FSU until graduation. In the spring of 2013 I will be the first from my family to graduate from a university. I will be receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Media Communication Studies and Editing, Writing & Media. I'm a Fulbright applicant and I'm currently working on a Public Policy Fellowship application with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI). I will be applying to law school, specifically New York University to study Immigration law. Instead of going straight to law school I plan on doing something different that will have a positive impact on my life as a young adult. In addition to the Fulbright and CHCI applications, I am searching for projects and jobs where I can help others either here in the United States or other countries. I am fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to travel to other countries and execute community service projects. As a growing individual in a global economy with so many opportunities, I'm fascinated with learning, helping others, and experiencing different cultures and communities.
